OSH 010 OSHA Construction Safety & Health
2 Class Hours, 2 Quarter Credit Hours
As part of OSHA’s Construction Safety and Health training initiative, this course examines a variety of construction & transportation industry standards that entry-level graduates will be required to apply on construction sites. Required topics include: Introduction to OSHA; electrical safety; fall protection, materials handling, storage, use and disposal; stairways, ladders, and scaffolding, excavations, confined spaces; fire prevention and protection; and occupational health and environmental controls. The course will also discuss optional topics as time permits. In order to obtain their OSHA 10-hr card, students need to pass the course with a “C” average. Attendance is mandatory.
OSH 030 Construction Safety and Health Training
4 Class Hours, 4 Quarter Credit Hours
This program includes OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as construction safety and health principles. The 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health Training course is intended to provide a variety of training to students/workers who may exercise some level of safety responsibility. The training will place emphasis on those areas that are most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. This program is more applicable for the construction supervisor, with a more intensified focus on various occupational safety and health standards. Course participants can expect to become familiar with the OSHA standards in 29 CFR 1926; identify common causes of accidents and fatalities in hazardous areas
of construction; recommend abatement techniques for such hazards; and recognize various construction processes, materials, and equipment.
